May Mina Maven Tiffany Perez

Where are you originally from?

Mother is Cuban and my Father is Dominican. I was born and raised in Miami, Fl. Born in Mercy Hospital to be exact

What are some of the perks growing up Hispanic?

The variety of food! Nothing compares to a home-cooked meal by the very own Chef Abuelita. Like all Latin grandmothers, she always goes out of her way to feed you. Even if you’re already full. I also enjoy the traditions and family time.

You have dabbled in pretty much everything entertainment, from hosting, marketing to acting to producing even modeling on the runway. How do you balance all of these things? And which one do you think you will be focusing mostly on in the future?

Staying productive is really critical in this industry and a lot of times you have to learn to do things by yourself. While I was at Univision, I learned everything from production, editing, even working the camera. Modeling and acting are definitely novel experiences for me but I enjoy challenging myself to see how far my potential can go. I’m blessed to have achieved what I have so far, and always try to stay prepared for anything else that might come my way. As far as balancing goes, I love what I do, so it makes it that much more fulfilling when I actually reach whatever goal I’m aiming for. It’s really hard for me to say what the future holds for me cause I try to focus on the now. But I look to further expand my company TiffanyOnAir. I’ve established some excellent relationships and have some exciting projects to look forward to, so I’m eager to see how everything pans out.

You seem to have worked with many non for profits and raising awareness on different matters. Tell me a little about that?

I love to give back whenever the opportunity presents itself. Most recently, I was involved with “The Pink Ribbon project” which helped raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Ten of Miami’s “most influential” socialites were picked to reveal a photo of them proudly wrapped in a pink ribbon. It was great to be surrounded by such amazing, strong women that night, and raising money in the process made it that much more rewarding.

How would you describe your sense of style?

I like to keep it classy and fun without over doing it. I enjoy getting all dolled up but also enjoy simplicity.

What is a good first date for you?

I really love the water so anything on the beach will be good. I’m very easygoing once you get to know me – not to mention that I love to laugh so bring your sense of humor with you!

What pointers do you have for the girls that want to make sexy look classy.

I think it’s important to know your body and balancing certain pieces. I have always had a lot of curves to work with so balance and comfort is important for me. If I wear a short skirt, I try not to show too much on the top and vice versa. It’s really all about confidence and being comfortable in what you are wearing. Confidence is sexy and classy!

Times have changed and women are dominating the work force, how have your career choices affected your personal life?

It’s definitely overwhelming, but very rewarding. I think a lot of women can relate that it is difficult to balance a personal life when you are so dedicated to your career, but what I have learned is that it’s important to surround yourself with positive people who understand what you are trying to achieve and share similar ambitions. It is very important to have a circle of friends that can relate and who are always going to empower you to do better no matter what.

It can get tricky staying trendy while still looking professional. What are your secrets?

I keep my blazer and pumps by me at all times.

How did you hear about Mina Miami Beach?

I went to high school with the Minagorri sisters and found out about Mina when I worked at Miami New Times.. I came across an article about them on WSVN. I was so proud of them when I found out they were opening up a boutique. I love the concept and love that you can find amazing clothing at great prices.

You recently modeled in a fashion show for Mina Miami Beach. What was your favorite outfit of the night?

Everything! I loved the jumpsuit, the high rise shorts and sequins shirt I wore. I’d definitely love to do something like this again!

How old were you when you decided to get into the media industry and what inspires you?

Ever since I can remember, I loved to play pretend and perform. I used to line up all my stuffed animals and interview them and give speeches as if they were my audience. My passion and drive inspires me, but my mother has always played a huge role, she has taught me that with hard work and dedication you can accomplish anything.

What other projects have you worked on recently? What is your latest business adventure?

I am currently working for The Miami Herald, specifically DealSaver, and absolutely love it. I get to find great deals around town and meet all types of people in the city. I am also working on my own video production company TiffanyOnair and recently landed my first acting gig. The movie is called EENIE MEENIE MINEY MOE" directed by Jokes Yanes and produced by Aaron Salgado.  I play a waitress named "Skittles" in the movie. It was so much fun working with such talented people and I look forward to participating in another feature film one day.

What pointers would you give to the girls that want to stay well connected to the Miami Social Scene without having to go out every night?

- Do your research on what important events are going on in the city
- Stay productive
- Don’t get caught up in the club scene
- Social Media. Get on it!
- Make a connection wherever you go - This tip is awesome. It's incredible how many connections can be made by just speaking to people wherever you are, it can be the janitor at a store. Just talk to people, hear their stories and listen to what they have gone through. This has helped me tremendously in my career. You never know when an opportunity can present itself.
